Update Calls

Update calls will happen throughout the Discovery Process with your coach. Typically these happen on a weekly basis, but can occur as often as needed.

There are several things that will be covered during update calls.

Debriefing Your Franchisor Conversations

You will have an opportunity to debrief all of your conversations with the franchisors since you last spoke with your coach. What all did you learn? Any thoughts, questions, or concerns?

We will go over:

• What are the next steps are, if any, with each brand
• What information might be missing, and how to gather it
• What questions you should be asking during the next step
• What people you should be speaking to that you have not had a chance to communicate with

“Concerns”

This word will come up often during the Discovery Process. We will help you determine if that “concern” is a deal breaker, or if it is something where we just need more information.

A “more information” concern. If we’ve introduced you to a pet franchise and your concern is how to find the groomers, that is more than likely a “more information” concern.

A deal breaker concern. If your concern about the pet franchise is that you actually really hate pets — you just can’t stand them — well, that might be a deal breaker for that franchise.

So in the first case, we will help make sure you are talking to the franchisor about how they will assist you with finding groomers to hire. Then, while speaking with owners, you can ask them what their real-life experience is with the groomers, and how the support from the franchise is in reality.

“So What Else You Got?”

This is another question that comes up often with people during the Discovery Process. Oftentimes this is simply caused by a fear of moving forward with the brand they are leaning heavily toward.

But sometimes we learn new information during the Discovery Process that requires us to pivot with a different franchise option or two. We will figure this out by understanding what, if anything, is missing from the existing franchises that we are looking at. If there is a clear miss with the brands we presented, we can now use this information to go back to the drawing board and find something else.

In reality, this rarely happens — but it can. And it’s always based on understanding what is missing, or what new information we learned that we didn’t realize was crucial. When this happens, our team can then identify a brand that will now hit the mark.

What About Funding?

Update calls will also include our team connecting you with our funding partners. We will help make sure you are educated on all the different ways in which you can fund a franchise, and help you determine which is the best for you and the brand you ultimately select.
