New Franchise Owner Swims Into Hot Raleigh Market

We are excited to announce the newest owner of America’s Swimming Pool Company: John Portland. With a long history of success working in the sports industry, John is now ready to begin his new chapter. 

Who Is John Portland?

John and his wife, Lisa, are parents of three and residents of North Carolina. Most recently, John worked as the Senior Associate AD of Capital Projects and Events at a well-known North Carolina university. His responsibilities were broad in scope, encompassing planning, organization, communication, events, programs, day-to-day tasks, and more for the school’s football, basketball, and baseball teams. 

Why Did John Make a Career Change?

While John loved working with collegiate athletes and supporting his local university’s athletic programs, his job required a lot of overtime work and travel on nights and weekends. With three children between the ages of nine and fourteen, he wanted to open a new chapter in his career that would allow him more freedom, flexibility, and time with his family. 

With that in mind, John came to FranCoach, where he worked with Franchise Coach Graham Chapman to learn more about franchise ownership and explore a variety of different franchise business models. Initially, John wanted a franchise in the fitness space – but ultimately, after working with Graham to define his ideal owner role, John landed on an opportunity in the home services industry. With America’s Swimming Pool Company, John will have the opportunity to leverage his incredibly diverse set of experiences and rich skill set focused on mentoring teams, handling service projects, and managing and elevating outdoor spaces.
