A High School Teacher and Coach Wants to Help Others Relax: Matt Kroupa
onWe are excited to announce the newest owner of Spavia Day Spa: Matt Kroupa. A natural born leader, Matt is eager to assemble a team and start managing his own business. We think Matt chose a franchise that is ideally suited for his skills and cannot wait to see what he’s able to achieve.
Who Is Matt Kroupa?
A highschool teacher and coach of more than 20 years, Matt is not only popular with his students, but the teachers and faculty as well. In fact, he has been elected to deliver the commencement speech at graduation several times.
Matt currently lives in Broomfield, Colorado with his wife, Elizabeth, and the couple’s three children, ages 12, 9, and 7.
Why Did Matt Kroupa Start Considering Franchise Ownership?
While Matt thoroughly enjoys working with his students and colleagues, he wants the chance to build his own business and apply some of the lessons he has taught his students to his own venture. He also wants the freedom, flexibility, and control that comes with franchise ownership, as well as the opportunity to build a legacy for his children.
So, Matt plans to continue teaching for a few years while a family member manages his new business. Once he completely steps away from teaching, he’ll take over the management duties at the spa.

Why Will Matt Kroupa Make a Great Franchise Owner?
A fantastic motivator, Matt’s coaching and teaching skills extend well beyond the classroom and field. He is also an effective interpersonal coach, who has a talent for helping people become their best selves – something that will undoubtedly prove helpful as he begins to build and manage his team.
Leadership skills aside, Matt is also a true people person, who exudes positive energy and connects with others in effortless fashion. As FranCoach coach Scott Hoots explains, “Matt was such a joy to work with. From our very first call I felt very connected to his passion. I enjoyed his energy around the process and his commitment to helping his family, as well as others in the community.”
Why Did Matt Kroupa Choose Spavia Day Spa?
Matt was interested in a few different types of franchise opportunities when he started working with the FranCoach team, ranging from fast food to the printing industry. But having fought through a long accident recovery process in the past, he was particularly interested in businesses related to the health and wellness space. This led him to consider Spavia Day Spa.
A business that has redefined the spa experience, Spavia Day Spa is dedicated to helping their guests feel relaxed, recentered, and renewed by offering luxury treatments and amenities – the kind that are typically only found at world class resorts – to local communities.
Since first opening the doors of a single location in 2005, Spavia has spread across the U.S. and hosted more than 1 million guest visits in total.
Matt was actually one of those guests, as he visited the Denver Spavia location during the discovery process. This visit not only helped convince Matt that Spavia was the perfect franchise for him and his family, but it also served as his “favorite part of the discovery process,” according to Scott.
Please join our team at FranCoach in congratulating Matt Kroupa and wishing him luck as a new owner of Spavia Day Spa.
